Frequently Asked Questions
How long have you been practicing?
I have been practicing for a little over a year and a half, including my practicums and internship in graduate school.

What licenses do you have?
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) supervised by Dr. Bryan Duncan, PhD, LPC-S, NCC.
Do you work with LGBTQ+ clients?
Yes! I work with LGBTQ+ individuals.
Do you provide religious/Christian based therapy?
Although I am not specialized in religious/Christian therapy, I am always happy to include every client’s religion and spirituality into therapy as the client sees fit.
Why did you become a therapist?
My journey to becoming a LPC is a bit of a journey. When I was younger, many of my friends and even my teachers said that I would make a great counselor one day, and that idea kind of just stuck! When I was a teenager, I experienced some things that were really hard on my mental health, and I wanted to be able to help others who went through something similar. I grew up in a smaller town and there were not a ton of mental health services in our area, so I also wanted to provide that resource to people.
After high school, I went on to pursue my BS in Psychology from Texas A&M where I experienced some things that really cemented my belief that I was meant to be a counselor. I walked beside my best friend during their time in the military, and being there for them made me realize further that there just isn’t enough mental health support and I wanted to address that. The final nail in the coffin was the pandemic, which occurred at the very end of my time at A&M, and truly opened my eyes to the serious lack of mental health resources available to everyone, and that I had a true calling for this profession.
I went on to pursue my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Tarleton State University where I gained so much knowledge about the counseling profession. During my time there, I was in an incredibly rural area where mental health resources and even general healthcare were a bit scarce, so it really fueled my desire to return home to be able to provide some of those resources to those who need it. During my internship, I was able to work with a huge variety of clients, and gain some real insight into different
types of mental health journeys. It reinforced my beliefs that I still have a lot to learn, and my goal is to keep learning and growing while helping others on their own mental health journeys.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I enjoy working with a wide range of clients, but I am most excited to work with clients dealing with life changes, anxiety, trauma, and couples. I want to provide a safe space for all clients who may simply need someone to talk to. I enjoy working with clients who prefer a more relaxed approach where we work together as a team. I also utilize a lot of humor in session and enjoy clients who do so as well in their understanding of themselves and their mental health journey.
What will our first session look like?
Our first session will be about building trust and a connection together while establishing what you are looking to accomplish in therapy. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have about therapy and to make sure we are a good fit together.
How should I prepare for our first session?
Our first session will be about getting to know each other and figuring out what your goals for therapy are. Meeting with a therapist for the first time can be stressful, so feel free to prepare questions or have specific things you may want me to know about you. If you simply want to show up and we take it from there, that’s fine too!
What will regular therapy sessions look like?
Therapy sessions will look different for each client based on what their therapy goals are. Sessions are largely driven by the client and what they want to discuss or work on in that particular session. I believe that clients are the experts on their own lives and I am here to meet you where you are at and we can go from there.

How long does your average client work with you for?
Time in therapy will vary on the needs and goals of the client. Time can range from a few months to a year.
Will you give me homework in between sessions?
Believe it or not, some clients benefit from homework! If homework is given, it is not meant to be stressful and its goal is to help clients practice skills and self-care at home, outside of session.
What are some things I should know about working with you?
I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy, whether you have big goals that you want to work on, or simply just need some space to talk things through. I want to get to know my clients and give them a space where they are comfortable to share anything. Therapy should be like a conversation, not a chore. Therapy can also be hard work, so you have to be willing to put in that work, and together we can accomplish your goals.

If I seem like the right fit for you or your family please reach out to schedule our initial appointment. I am currently offering both in person and virtual sessions.
