About Chris

Hello, I'm Chris Langley, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor based in Temple, Texas. I’ve been in the mental health field for over 22 years, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey. I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, along with a certificate as a Family Life Educator, from Loma Linda University in California. Before that, I studied psychology at La Sierra University.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the chance to work in a wide range of settings, supporting children, teens, adults, couples, and families. I started out working in a group home with adolescent boys, then spent some time in foster care services helping families and kids. For 20 years I served as a Program and Clinical Director for a residential facility, where I focused on helping adolescents and their families navigate emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges. Now my focus is on private practice and getting to help adult individuals and couples enhance communication and live overall healthier lives.

I work with individuals and couples who are facing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, infidelity, and anger management issues. I also have a passion for working with men and men’s issues in therapy. My approach is rooted in evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), depending on what fits best for each person or couple.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife and our two kids. We can often be found camping and overlanding in my Jeep.

If you’re thinking about starting therapy or just want to learn more, I’d be glad to connect.

Why did you become a therapist?

I became a therapist after serving 4 years in the Navy. During my adolescence and military career, I developed a passion for helping others, particularly adolescents and those struggling with substance abuse. When the time came for my master’s degree, I chose a Marriage and Family Therapy program that also allowed me to obtain a Drug and Alcohol Certification. From there, I have worked in group homes, foster homes, and residential treatment centers centered around working with adolescents and their families. I became the program director for a residential treatment center 20 years ago and about 15 years ago shifted from direct client care to becoming a supervisor training other therapists in mental health counseling and addiction work. For the past 10 years, I have worked in private practice settings allowing me to work more in depth with adults and couple systems which has grown my passion for working with trauma/PTSD as well as couple’s conflicts and infidelity.
